For more than 25 years, The Ailey School and Fordham University have been partners in an innovative Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program in dance. Located blocks away from New York City's Lincoln Center for the Performance Arts, the four-year BFA curriculum combines the artistic pre-eminence of the official school of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater with a rigorous liberal arts education rooted in the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence.
-
The Ailey/Fordham BFA in Dance offers a unique balance of intensive studio training, academic excellence, and professional preparation. Students study ballet, modern, contemporary, and repertory while completing a full liberal arts curriculum that expands their artistic and intellectual horizons.
-
Students applying to the Ailey/Fordham BFA in Dance must submit both the Fordham Common Application and The Ailey School’s Dance Application by the Early Action deadline. Applicants are required to complete an audition or interview as part of the process. Decisions are released on a rolling basis after March 1.
-
Ailey/Fordham BFA alumni perform on stages around the world, dance with major companies, appear on Broadway, teach, choreograph, and lead in arts organizations. Their careers reflect the program’s commitment to artistic excellence and professional versatility.
