Grammy Award-winning producer and entertainment lawyer Doug Davis, LAW ’98, earned his fifth Grammy on February 2 in Los Angeles. He was honored for co-producing former U.S. president Jimmy Carter’s Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration.
The record, released last year to mark Carter’s 100th birthday, won for best audiobook, narration, and storytelling recording just two weeks after Carter’s passing. It features the former president’s final Sunday school lessons delivered at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, paired with music by Darius Rucker, LeAnn Rimes, Jon Batiste, and Keb’ Mo’.
Davis (pictured third from left) joined Jason Carter, a grandson of the former president, to accept the award. Davis previously earned two Grammys for best large jazz ensemble album and two for best Latin jazz album, most recently for Fandango at the Wall in New York (2022) by Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.
