Beinecke Scholarship

Funding to support graduate study in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. 

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS)

CLS offers summer language institutes in fourteen critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains. 

DAAD-RISE

The DAAD-RISE program offers students the opportunity to conduct STEM research at a German institution over the summer.

Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship

The Gilman Scholarship provides up to $5000 for undergraduate students who receive a Federal Pell grant to study abroad.

Gilman-McCain Scholarship

The Gilman Scholarship provides $5000 for undergraduate students who are dependents of active or activated military personnel to study abroad.

Goldwater Scholarship

The Goldwater Foundation awards scholarships to college students who intend to pursue research careers in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering. 

Humanity in Action

The Humanity in Action Fellowship is an intensive four-week educational program in Atlanta, Berlin, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Sarajevo, or Copenhagen, where they will investigate topics such as human rights, democracy, and structural injustice through workshops, local site visits, and discussions with local organization representatives. Fellows then return home to develop civil society initiatives in their own communities.

National Science Foundation (NSF) REU Summer Programs

NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students at REU Sites in the US and abroad. Each student is associated with a specific research project, working closely with the faculty and other researchers. Students are granted stipends and, in many cases, assistance with housing and travel. Placements involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing NSF research programs or in projects designed for the REU program. Students apply directly to an REU site.

PPIA Junior Summer Institutes

The PPIA Junior Summer Institute Fellowship is a rigorous program for undergraduates committed to careers in public service. Candidates must have plans to obtain a master’s or joint degree in public policy, policy administration, international affairs or a related field. 

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program

The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers. Students live at Howard University, attend classes, and participate in a variety of programs with foreign affairs professionals at Howard and at diverse locations around Washington, DC. 

Harry S. Truman Scholarship

The Truman Scholarship seeks to identify college juniors who want to devote themselves to public service. The program provides funding for graduate study and leadership training to undergraduate juniors interested in public service careers. 

Udall Scholarships

The Udall Foundation awards scholarships to college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to the environment or Native American nations.
