The Scott Simpson Cross-Border Institute at Fordham Law hosted a spectacular conference on June 4. Robert Posner delivered an inspiring keynote address on global elections and their impact on the deal market. Experts Jerry H. Goldfeder, Rumela Sen, and Siôn Simon discussed the 2024 elections in the U.S., India, and the U.K. in a panel led by Professor Richard Squire. In a year where more than 40% of the world's population will head to the polls in general elections across the globe, the stakes for the democratic process have never been higher.
Musk, Delaware Judges, and the Future of American Corporate Law

It was standing-room only for the Corporate Law Center's presentation on Musk, Delaware Judges, and the Future of American Corporate Law on April 8, 2024. Fordham Law Professors Richard Squire and Sean Griffith discussed the recent Delaware Chancery Court decision in Tornetta v. Musk, which rescinded Elon Musk's $55 billion compensation package at Tesla. Their presentations attempted to answer the burning question: can one man change the course of American corporate law as we know it? The presentations touched on everything from Musk's unusual business practices to the perceived politicization of the Delaware judiciary. Attendees participated in a lively question and answer session, and the conversations continued at a reception held after the event.

The 21st Annual Albert A. DeStefano Lecture on Corporate, Securities & Financial Law welcomed former Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court, former Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery, and current Of Counsel at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, Leo E. Strine, Jr. on February 27, 2024. Justice Strine delivered a lecture entitled "Minutes are Worth the Minutes," which focused on the importance of good board documentation practices. After his remarks, Justice Strine joined Professor Richard Squire in a discussion about seminal corporate law rulings and how careful board minuting practices may have affected their outcomes. After a lively Q&A session with the audience, guests joined Justice Strine for a reception.
M&A Workshop

Over 60 Fordham Law students attended the M&A Workshop hosted by the Corporate Law Center and led by M&A attorneys from Skadden and Cooley on Friday, January 26th. Students learned about the exciting and complex world of mergers and acquisitions law and participated in simulated NDA and M&A term sheet negotiations throughout the day.
