This policy defines visiting scholars at Fordham University and procedures for inviting visiting scholars to Fordham.
Visiting Faculty Scholars and Visiting Research Scholars are courtesy titles and privileges given to scholars of distinction who visit Fordham University in order to engage in research, scholarship, and exchanges of knowledge with members of the Fordham University community.
These courtesy titles are not granted for purposes of teaching or other privileges to graduate or post-graduate students or for the sole purpose of providing library privileges.
Visiting Faculty Scholars and Visiting Research Scholars are guests of the University who may visit for a temporary period that does not exceed one year. They are not employees of Fordham University and are not entitled to salary, benefits, or housing.
Process for Inviting a Visiting Scholar or Visiting Research
Step 1: Sponsoring Faculty member Completes the Visiting Scholar Application Form, which is set up with approval workflow for steps 2-4 below.
Step 2: Seek Approval by Department Chair and Dean
Step 3: Send in the application form and CV to the Office of Faculty Affairs for approval
Step 4: OFA will review the request and send a letter of invitation to the visiting scholar
