Guide to your Road to Tenure
This is a year by year guide to the types of reviews you are expected to complete leading up to your tenure year.
Year 1
First year as Tenure Track Faculty
- Apply for Faculty Research Grant
- Apply for Merit (Annually)
- Complete Faculty Activity Report (annually)
Year 2
First Reappointment Review

By October 1, submit all appropriate documents to RPT System for review
- By December 15, notification will be sent of the results of your first Reappointment Review
Year 3
Second Reappointment Review
- By September 15, apply for Faculty Fellowship
- By February 15, submit all appropriate documents to RPT System for review
- By May 15, notification will be sent of the results of the your second reappointment review
Year 4
First Faculty Fellowship
- If you applied and received a Fellowship in Year 3, you can take you fellowship starting year 4
Year 5
Third & Final Reappointment
- Final review and reappointment before tenure review
- By February 15, submit all appropriate documents to RPT system for review
- By May 15, notification will be sent of the results of the your third reappointment review
Year 6
Tenure Review
- By January 15, submit all appropriate documents to RPT system for review
- By May 15, notification will be sent of the results of your tenure review.
- Additional materials may be needed for external review letters before January 15.
