Proposal Process
The BRICS selection process is designed to identify and support research projects that align with our mission of fostering resilient, empowered, and thriving communities in the Bronx. The process involves five key steps:
Request for Research Collaboration
Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) with 501(c)(3) status can submit a request for research collaboration. The request should include the research topic, organizational history, alignment with BRICS' mission, and a brief summary of the need for the research. The BRICS team will review these submissions to ensure alignment with our key focus areas.
Consultation with BRICS Team
Selected applicants will consult with the BRICS team to refine their proposals. This crucial step offers valuable feedback, ensuring the research plan is closely aligned with both community needs and BRICS’ overarching goals. Additionally, during this consultation, the team will help identify potential faculty partners who can collaborate on the project, strengthening the proposal and enhancing its impact.
Full Application
After the consultation, applicants submit a full application that includes detailed research design, community engagement strategies, budget, and timeline. This comprehensive proposal builds on the LOI and outlines how the research will impact the Bronx community.
Review by Full Board
The BRICS Review Committee, comprising community and university leaders, reviews the full application based on community engagement, impact, cultural relevance, research design, sustainability, and feasibility.
Notification of Funding
Applicants are informed of the funding decision, with successful projects receiving support and feedback provided to others for future consideration. BRICS welcomes reapplications!
