Building Equitable Partnerships Through Appreciative Inquiry

Wednesday, October 23, 12:00 - 1:30 pm,  Rose Hill Campus

In this workshop, Fellows will explore the foundational principles of developing strong, equitable partnerships between university scholars and community-based organizations (CBOs). Rooted in the BRICS approach, which emphasizes collaboration, cultural relevance, and sustainability, this session will guide Fellows through the process of forming and nurturing meaningful relationships with community partners. Central to the workshop is an understanding of Appreciative Inquiry, a strengths-based approach that focuses on identifying and building upon the existing assets within the community.

This workshop helps BRICS Fellows understand the perspectives of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in the Bronx, offering insights into their mission-driven work and the challenges and opportunities they navigate. Through the lens of Appreciative Inquiry, participants will explore how CBOs contribute to community empowerment and equity, and learn how to build partnerships that respect and amplify these organizations’ efforts. By gaining a deeper understanding of CBOs’ unique perspectives and operational realities, Fellows will be better equipped to collaborate effectively and conduct research that aligns with the goals and values of the Bronx community.
