Environmental Studies Learning Goals
Student Learning Goals in Environmental Studies
a. Knowledge of the world’s major environmental problems and challenges
b. Knowledge of both the physical and social causes of environmental problems and their effects.
c. Knowledge of how environmental problems also involve issues of environmental racism and justice.
d. Ability to analyze problems from an interdisciplinary perspective involving the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and design disciplines.
e. Ability to design policy solutions to environmental problems from an interdisciplinary perspective.
f. Ability to conduct interdisciplinary research on the causes of, and solutions to, environmental problems.
g. Ability to communicate effectively within both academic and public-facing, professional settings.
h. Ability to apply academic knowledge to real-time environmental issues in the NYC area and elsewhere in the world.
