Phi Alpha Theta
The Chi Phi Chapter of the international honor society in history, Phi Alpha Theta, has the purpose of furthering the study of history within the Fordham community. Phi Alpha Theta is an American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The society has over 350,000 members, with about 9,500 new members joining each year through 860 local chapters.
Phi Alpha Theta was established in 1921 at the University of Arkansas by Professor Nels Cleven, who had become convinced in his time at the university that an organization of scholars was important for the study of history.

We will meet on the front steps of the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue at 11:00.
First we will go across the street to the Hungarian Pastry Shop at 1030 Amsterdam Avenue for the best cake this side of Budapest. Then we will have a tour of the Cathedral.
Please e-mail [email protected] to indicate if you can attend our Saturday field trip.
Our next Induction will be held on Thursday 19 May at 1:00.
We will meet once again at the circle of chairs under the elm trees outside the Cuniffe Administration Building.
We will have refreshments, and we will also hold our Phi Alpha Theta Election for our next President and the members of our Board.
If you are graduating now, you need to attend our Induction. You will receive your Phi Alpha Theta Certificates then.
If you are not graduating yet, you need to think of being elected to one of our offices.
Please reach out to our current President Gabby [email protected] if you wish to serve.
