Biography

Pierre is a PhD candidate in Systematic Theology, focusing on liberation theology and decolonial studies. His primary research explores the erasure of the Zapatista movement in Chiapas, Mexico from theologies of liberation, and the erasure of liberation theology as a critical influence on Zapatismo in the work of political and decolonial theorists who view the Zapatistas, in the words of Walter Mignolo, as a “theoretical revolution.” His other interests include theologies of God, ecological theology, and the mystical tradition.

Pierre was awarded the Senior Teaching Fellowship for exemplary teaching, and the Beacon Exemplar Award, conferred by Fordham University United Student Government for making a meaningful impact on students’ lives. He has presented papers at the American Academy of Religion, the Meister Eckhart Center for Catholic and Dominican Life at Albertus Magnus College, and for the Albertus Magnus College’s Justice Panel.

Pierre’s academic pursuits have taken place in between stints working on a tugboat, writing screenplays, working as a gardener, writing songs, and playing rock and roll. He lives in Wallingford, CT, with his wife Jenna, and his three children, Cruz, Pax, and Sophia.
