Chinmoy Gulrajani, M.D., D.F.A.P.A.
Board-certified Forensic Psychiatrist
Chinmoy Gulrajani, M.D., D.F.A.P.A. is a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He attended medical school at the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India. He completed residency training in psychiatry at the University of Delhi, the University of Missouri-Columbia, and Yale University. He completed fellowship training in forensic psychiatry at Yale University.
Dr. Gulrajani is the founder-director of the division of forensic psychiatry at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and a member of the State Medical Executive Committee for the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Prior to this, he served as medical director for inpatient behavioral health services at Kings County Hospital Center and as a forensic psychiatrist in the criminal court clinic in Brooklyn. Dr. Gulrajani is past president of the Minnesota Psychiatric Society and sits on the executive council of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. Dr. Gulrajani’s scholarship centers on issues of social import, ethics, physician malpractice, and clinical practice of forensic psychiatry. He serves on the editorial board of many periodicals, including Behavioral Sciences and the Law and the Journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. Dr. Gulrajani was awarded the Lily Young Investigator in Bipolar Disorder fellowship award in 2003 and is a 2018 Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. In 2023, Dr. Gulrajani was a NAMI Exceptional Psychiatrist awardee and received the Presidential Service Award from the Minnesota Psychiatric Society
