Colonial and early US literature; the eighteenth century (US, British, French, Caribbean); African American literature; literary theory; book history; queer studies

Dr. Jordan Stein researches how aspects of social identities (race, sexuality, gender) inflect the material practices associated with literary production (reading, printing, editing, archiving). He's currently writing a media and book history of pre- and post-colonial Haiti (1764-1821).
