FCLC Honors Program Internships
By junior year, honors students have had several opportunities to take classes that allow them to pursue their passions. This exploration continues as junior-year students (who choose not to study abroad) are supported through the process of either conducting research or gaining an internship. Internships are valuable opportunities to understand how your actual career field will look. In New York, opportunities for internships are on every corner.
Students have had incredibly varied internships. A few recent examples are:
- Helping orchestrate readings by New York City’s premier poets with The Poetry Project—Adam Fales, Class of 2017
- Cataloging pieces at Art Net, an art auction house—Wallis Monday, Class of 2016
- Interning as a production assistant at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway during the revival of Our Town—Sierra Fox, Class of 2015
- Analyzing computer systems in financial markets at Toshiba—Nathan Miranda, Class of 2016
- Writing for Spin Magazine, including reviewing bands around New York City
- Working with Marvel to develop and publish comic books
- Conducting economic research on the impact of the Federal Reserve and housing bubble
Dante Frontani, Class of 2016, had an internship with a Buddhist filmmaker that took him to places like Amsterdam and put him in contact with people like Martin Scorsese and the Dalai Lama. He says, “I found my experience to be hugely important to my personal growth. My experience in Amsterdam was a profoundly personal journey that signified my bright future in this industry.”
