Honor Societies
Gabelli students who excel in their studies may be invited to join one or more national or international honor societies. There are also business student honor societies that are unique to Fordham. Membership in these prestigious organizations is a credential that holds merit in the eyes of potential employers and graduate schools.
National and International Honor Societies
- Beta Gamma Sigma: The national academic honor society for member colleges of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
- Phi Kappa Phi: A national honor society for superior scholars in all academic disciplines. Its foundation holds a competition that results in fellowships for graduate study. Two Gabelli students recently won these grants to attend Yale.
- Alpha Sigma Nu: The National Honor Society of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. It inducts only about 1,000 students each year, less than 2 percent of the combined enrollment of Jesuit schools with active chapters.
- Beta Alpha Psi: The national honor society for students of accounting, finance or information systems and those pursuing careers in financial services.
- Omicron Delta Epsilon: An international honor society in the field of economics
Fordham Honor Societies:
The Boyle Society
The Father William Emmett Boyle Society is the Gabelli School of Business’s own honor society. Its members exemplify the Jesuit values of its namesake, a former business school dean, professor and student advisor who served Fordham for many years.
As mentors and tutors for fellow Gabelli students, and as research assistants to Fordham faculty, Boyle Society members contribute to the greater good and embody the Jesuit principle of being “men and women for others.” Members also receive special guidance from the dean’s office staff in preparing applications for scholarships at the university, regional and national levels, and in securing fellowships and assistantships.
Finance Scholars
The top 30 finance majors are invited to join this group during their junior year. They benefit from résumé reviews, mock interviews, meetings with Fordham alumni in finance, networking help, and general education in the finance industry.
