Joe Lizza, CPA
Adjunct Professor of Accounting
Joe Lizza earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from St. Peter's University, in 1978 and became a CPA in May 1981. Prior to establishing Lizza & Carullo CPAs & Advisors in 1991, Lizza spent over 10 years in both private industry and public accounting, developing a keen sense of management decision-making for profitability, sustainability, and growth. This expertise was further enhanced when he earned an M.B.A. in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Felician University in 2008. During his 29 years at the helm of the firm, he has applied his knowledge to assist many clients with what he calls" Infusion Management."
Additionally, for over 25 years, Lizza has shared his expertise in the classroom. He is an adjunct professor of accounting at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business and also has taught business courses at Rutgers University, Felician University, and the Becker CPA Review Company.
His expertise in finance, accounting, and education has been recognized by his clients and peers. Lizza has received numerous honors including the Rutgers Accounting Society’s Teacher of the Year award (1996, 1997); Becker CPA Review Company’s Excellence in Teaching award (2003, 2005); New Jersey Monthly’s Five Star Top Wealth Manager’s Award in Business Planning (2011, 2012, 2013); The Italian Voice’s Best of New Jersey Award of Excellence (2014); Felician University’s Distinguished Alumni Award (2015); the Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence from Fordham University; the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence from Felician University (2017); NJCPA’s Volunteer Award (2018); NJCPA’s Ovation Award: Education Excellence (2019); and the NJBIZ ICON Award (2020).
