Wael Hibri
Adjunct Professor of Information, Technology and Operations
Wael Hibri is the MTA’s deputy chief transformation officer, leading the consolidation and transformation of administrative functions and the redesign of business processes. Before that he headed up Shared Services, serving 72,000 employees and 47,000 retirees. Services included non-core procurement, accounting, payroll, talent acquisition and benefits administration. In addition to this role, he oversaw information technology until December 2019.
Wael became chief enterprise information officer of the MTA in 2004. Since then, he has led a series of initiatives, modernizing applications and infrastructure, and ultimately consolidating five separate IT departments.
Wael earned an undergraduate degree in business administration from the American
University in Beirut and an M.B.A. from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. He also holds an M.A. in international political economy and development and a Ph.D. in economics from Fordham University. In addition to his responsibilities at the MTA, Wael is an adjunct faculty member at Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business. He teaches courses in IT strategy and management, operations management, systems analysis and design, IT project management, data analysis, and economics.
