Stan Veliotis Studies Executive Action in a Tax Context

Associate Professor and Center co-director Stan Veliotis has published "Tax-Related Executive Orders and Budgetary Impact", in the August 3, 2020 volume of Tax Notes Federal. (The idea and data analysis for the paper is based on co-author Meghan Keough extensive work on her honors thesis, which was a runner-up for the E. Gerald Corrigan Undergraduate Research Award. She is a 2020 summa cum laude graduate of the Gabelli School of Business, where she earned a BS in public accounting).

This paper empirically reviews U.S. presidents' executive orders for the last 25 years for budget impact and compares them to the limited attempts at tax-related executive actions. The paper suggests that budget impact is a likely explanation for the dearth of tax-related executive orders.
