David M. Tanen, LAW ’96

David Tanen is co-founding partner of Two River LLC, a venture capital firm that has incubated numerous companies that develop life-saving cancer treatments. His generous support of Fordham Law School has been pivotal to initiatives that foster professional development and enhance diversity, inclusion, and community among students. In addition to his engagement with the law school, he serves as a member of the Fordham University Board of Trustees.
Tanen sits on the Dean’s Planning Council and the Entrepreneurial Law Advisory Council at the law school, where he has given scholarship funds and donated in support of numerous programs and initiatives. He has made major contributions to the Increasing Diversity in Education and the Law program, which gives students from underrepresented groups exposure to the legal profession, and the Realizing Excellence and Access in the Law program, which supports students who encountered barriers on their path to law school and helps them thrive at Fordham.
In 2019, David made a major gift that established Fordham Law’s Tanen Professionalism Fund, a fellowship fund for student mentors. In 2023 he helped establish the Tanen Leadership Center, focused on enhancing the student experience and preparing students for successful, satisfying careers in the legal profession.
