Jane Bartnett, MC ’76

Following her graduation from Marymount College, Jane Bartnett began her communications career at ABC NEWS in Washington, D.C., covering national news as a reporter and producer. 

After returning to New York City, Jane became an executive at Porter Novelli and Rubenstein Associates, two leading public relations firms. She managed public relations and public affairs for national consumer brands and large New York City businesses and nonprofit organizations. She went on to run her own public affairs and public relations firm for 11 years. Her clients included the United States Tennis Association, the Nature Conservancy of New York State, Kaufman Astoria Studios (home to Sesame Street), and regional businesses. In 2008, Jane joined the State University of New York as communications director for SUNY Maritime College, one of five state Maritime academies in the United States.

Jane proudly served as the president of the Marymount College Tarrytown of Fordham University Alumni board for six years. She is also honored to be among the Marymount graduates who have received the Gloria Gaines Memorial Award.

In her new hometown of Sarasota, Florida, Jane is co-editor of the Siesta Sand, a monthly community newspaper that covers the Siesta Key region. She has also contributed news stories to AAA Northeast’s digital publication. For Brooklyn Tech High School’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2022, Jane profiled 100 distinguished alumni. The biographies were published in a commemorative Brooklyn Tech Alumni Foundation book entitled Engineered for Excellence, Notable Brooklyn Technical High School Alumni Who Helped Change the World.

A 1976 graduate of Marymount College, Jane holds a master’s degree in public administration from American University, Washington, D.C.  She serves as president of the Sarasota chapter of Fordham University’s Alumni Association.
