Laudato Si' and Fordham—Our Common Home: Taking Action, Inspiring Change
Drawing from Fordham's Laudato Si action plan and sharing the University's own green initiatives, Dr. Gafney will provide a roadmap for businesses and communities to take steps to support environmental justice initiatives and plan for sustainable success, all for the benefit of our common home.

Julie Gafney, Ph.D., assistant vice president for strategic mission initiatives and executive director for the Center for Community Engaged Learning, holds a B.A. in English and Spanish from Tufts University, an M.A. in comparative literature from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in English literature from the CUNY Graduate Center. She currently serves as an external evaluator for a number of National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health grants supporting student support initiatives. Last year, Gafney chaired Fordham’s Laudato Si’ Planning Committee, and she now co-chairs the University’s Sustainability Council.
