Google Storage Quotas

For Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni

Overview

Google has announced the elimination of free, unlimited storage in Gmail, Drive, and Google Photos for educational institutions. Accordingly, Fordham will now require storage allocations for every active Fordham account. Our goal is to maintain service quality, minimize disruption, and contain costs while addressing immediate storage needs and planning for the future.

University Task Force to Address Google’s Change in Policy

In late 2023, Fordham University established a Google Storage Task Force in response to Google's announcement of new storage limits for educational institutions. This task force was created to develop a comprehensive plan to address the upcoming changes and ensure a smooth transition for all members of the Fordham community.

The task force comprised a representative group of the University who worked diligently to discuss strategies and make informed recommendations. The members of the task force included:

  • Student Affairs – Chris Rodgers
  • Enrollment Management – Sveta Zlatareva & Eugene Linger
  • Faculty Senate (Chair, Tech Committee) - Aditya Saharia
  • Human Resources – Kamal Joshi
  • School of Law – Bernard Matthews
  • School of Business – Jeff Haynes
  • Fordham College – Tracyann Williams
  • DAUR – Michael Griffin
  • Marketing & Communication – Donna Lehmann
  • Finance – Rebecca Ancheta
  • IT – Clara Perdiz, Lindsay Karp, Gerry Cariffe, Katherine Gomez, Charles Henri-Sanson

The task force's recommendations were carefully considered and ultimately ratified by the University cabinet. This collaborative effort highlights our commitment to maintaining an efficient and effective digital environment for our community.
