Preparing to Teach in a Flexible Hybrid Environment
Welcoming
Welcoming your students to your class is something instructors do automatically in face-to-face teaching environments. Synchronously, you can welcome your students to your initial live session. However, in the asynchronous components of your course, you will need to introduce yourself more deliberately, through text and media.
Asynchronous
- Post a welcome message via an Announcement
- Create and post a welcome video
Synchronous
- Host a welcome live session using Zoom or Blackboard Collaborate
Orienting
Students will need your help in understanding the online components of the course. Where can they find content? How do they access the Live Session?

Connecting
