Recommendations for Accessibility, Equity, and Policies Related to Privacy/Security
As you prepare to teach, we encourage you to consider who your students are and what challenges your students may be facing.
Students all learn differently. At various moments in the semester, they may each face challenges that make it hard to learn. If something comes up, faculty can urge their students to contact their academic advisor or class dean who are there to help. The Resources for Online Students page has a full list of support services available to you.
The Blackboard classroom template includes links to resources for students. While these challenges may evolve over the course of the semester, attentiveness to principles of accessibility (by using Universal Design and principles of Transparent Teaching) equity--especially around race, particularly blackness (Fordham OCDO BLM resources), and privacy and security (e.g. FERPA guidelines) will make a good start.
