A high-level training program designed for young scholars, researchers, and professionals interested in addressing the challenges of sustainable development through the lens of Integral Ecology.  


This Summer School aims to create an interdisciplinary research and discussion space, fostering the analysis and reimagining of contemporary cities as places of peace, inclusion, and sustainability. With a scientific and applied approach, participants will engage in an intensive training program, guided by internationally recognized experts, featuring:

Who Can Participate? 


The program is open to a maximum of 50 young participants (ages 18-30) with a strong interest in Integral Ecology and sustainable development.

  • Selection through a motivational interview
  • Sections in Italian & English (translation available)

Ways to Participate

There are two ways to participate in the Summer School:


1. Attend as a participant
, engaging in the full training program.

2. Attend and submit a paper or project idea, which will be evaluated for presentation during the Summer School and considered for publication.


For those whose project ideas are selected, there will be an opportunity to continue developing their work under the guidance of tutors and faculty, fostering the practical application of the knowledge acquired.

Costs & Scholarships 


Registration Fee

  • €150 for international students
  • €200 for Italian students


Scholarships

Thanks to the support of partners and donors, each selected participant will receive a scholarship worth €1,200, covering the full cost of the training program.

Attendees are responsible for their own travel expenses.  


Travel Expense Reimbursement Opportunity

International students may be eligible for travel expense reimbursement, depending on the availability of funds provided by the project's sponsors. Reimbursement opportunities will be discussed during the admission interview.  

Additional Opportunity: Euro-Mediterranean Integral Ecology Meeting

Participants will also have the optional opportunity to attend the Euro-Mediterranean Meeting on Integral Ecology in November 2025 in Taranto, Italy.

This annual scientific gathering fosters dialogue between academia, institutions, and local communities on sustainable development and Mediterranean experiences in Integral Ecology.

Virtual participation will also be available for those who cannot attend in person.

Benefits of Participation

Participating in the Summer School offers several benefits, including:

  • Publication Opportunity: Contributions will be published in the “Oikos Università & Ricerca” series in a volume with an ISBN dedicated to the Summer School proceedings.

Frequently Asked Questions:


Can I submit more than one work?

Yes, up to two works per participant, each with a maximum of three co-authors.


Are travel expenses included?

No, travel expenses are not included. The organizers offer scholarships covering the training program and room and board, as specified in the separate call. Participants are encouraged to seek financial support for travel from their home institutions.


Is physical attendance mandatory?

Yes, the Summer School will take place in
person in Castel Gandolfo from July 24 to 30, 2025.
