Biography
Ms. Shanmugham is Global Head of Compliance at Tradeweb, a leading global operator of electronic marketplaces for rates, credit, equities and money markets. She is responsible for continuing to foster Tradeweb’s culture of compliance and further developing the company’s relationships with regulators around the world, including identifying and advocating for global standards and best practices. Ms. Shanmugham has a successful track record of collaborating with federal agencies, regulators and contractual counterparties in connection with trading in various asset classes, system safeguards and electronic trading reporting and clearing.
Ms. Shanmugham joined Tradeweb from Bloomberg LP, where she was Chief Compliance Officer for Bloomberg’s swap execution facility and swap data repository. Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2015, she was Assistant General Counsel at GFI Group and Assistant General Counsel at JPMorgan Chase Bank. Ms. Shanmugham spent the first decade of her career representing corporate clients as an intellectual property attorney and registered patent attorney. She earned a B.S. in cellular and molecular biology and psychology from Tulane University and a J.D. from Emory University School of Law.
Ms. Shanmugham is a frequent speaker on compliance topics, including corporate compliance programs, regulatory market structure and financial regulation. Ms. Shanmugham is a co-chair of the New York City Bar Association's Compliance Committee and a member of the FINRA Fixed Income Committee and a subcommittee member of the CFTC's Global Markets Advisory Committee.
