  • Professor Irene Ten Cate is an Associate Professor of Legal Writing at Brooklyn Law School, where she also serves as Co-Director of the Dennis J. Block Center for the Study of International Business Law. She recently taught Criminal Law and Conflict of Laws at the University of Houston Law Center, where she will also teach a seminar titled "Free Speech and the University."

    Professor Irene Ten Cate's scholarship focuses on arbitral judging, and she is expanding her research into legal reasoning, the legal academy, and student learning. She currently serves as the Editor in Chief of Legal Writing: The Journal of the Legal Writing Institute. Professor Irene Ten Cate practiced as a litigator in New York City for almost a decade. She holds law degrees from the University of Amsterdam and Columbia Law School.
