Fordham’s Master of Science in Hospitality is a blend of traditional operations and management training with hospitality investment and development—allowing you to take advantage of understanding real estate to move beyond the management side of hospitality. The program resides within Fordham’s Real Estate Institute and will put you on track for leadership positions in hospitality, from the C-suite and ownership to entrepreneurial ventures.
Fordham also offers advanced certificates in hotel management and hospitality investment and development.

What Defines Fordham’s MSH Program?
The 30-credit Master of Science in Hospitality (MSH) provides a comprehensive understanding of the multidisciplinary hospitality field. The program presents a broad study of the management, operations, investment, and development aspects of hospitality while offering the opportunity to develop skills in other areas of the industry that are important to individual careers. No GRE/GMAT required.
Deadlines and Requirements
Deadlines: We accept students on a rolling basis, but our preferred deadlines are June 1 for fall admission and November 1 for spring admission. International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by April 1 for fall admission and October 15 for spring admission.

The Fordham Real Estate Institute offers several scholarship opportunities to incoming students. This is financial aid that you don't have to pay back. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six graduate credits in the fall and spring semester and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Additional payment plans and loan programs are available through Fordham’s graduate financial aid program.
- Notifications for fall semester scholarships begin going out via email to newly admitted graduate students in mid-April of the entering year.
- Notifications for spring semester scholarships begin going out via email to newly admitted graduate students in mid-November.

Dean's Awards up to $10,000
The School of Professional and Continuing Studies offers an array of Dean’s Awards that are applied in your first year of study in equal halves in the fall term and in the spring term.Applicants who would like to be considered for one of the following Dean’s Awards should email Debbie Lesperance, director of PCS admissions, at dlesperance@fordham.edu. No additional application required.
- Dean’s Scholar Award: $10,000
The Dean’s Scholar award is the most competitive award offered through the Real Estate Institute. The scholarship committee identifies those who present the strongest applications, with an emphasis placed on prior academic performance, work experience, and the insight provided in a required admissions essay. - Dean’s Merit Award: $4,000 – 6,000
- Dean’s Advanced Graduate Certificate Award: $2,700
Building Futures Scholarships $5,000 – $15,000
The Fordham Real Estate Institute Executive Advisory Council has created a Building Futures Scholarship Fund designed to offer financially challenged residents in the NYC five boroughs and surrounding counties access to graduate programs and meaningful careers in real estate and construction, including hospitality and leisure-related projects.An application is required. Please email realestate@fordham.edu for the Building Futures Scholarship application.
Requirements for applicants:
- Must be a resident of one of the NYC five boroughs or surrounding counties
- Must be admitted to a PCS REI graduate program
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application
- Building Futures Scholarship Application must include a personal statement of financial impact.

Shawn Amsler is the founding principal of Amsler Advisors, a real estate development advisory firm in New York. He has consulted on real estate finance and development for projects in the United States, Latin America, and Europe, and has raised equity capital from institutional investors for real estate funds in the United States and Canada.
He has more than 20 years of experience in real estate development and construction management with such firms as Kor Realty Group and Turner Construction Company. Amsler has taught at Columbia University GSAPP, NYU, and the NYC Architecture Program of Syracuse University. He holds an M.S. in real estate development from Columbia University, as well as a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University.

Transfer Policies
- Up to 9 credits may be waived if the coursework matches exactly with our MSH. However, this will not reduce the number of credits needed to graduate. Students may elect to take different MSH courses in their place, but the total number of credits needed to graduate will not be reduced. All transfers are subject to approval.
- Non-Matriculated Option: If you wish to apply as a non-matriculated student, simply check off "non-degree" on the MSH application. You may take up to 6 graduate credits as a non-matriculated student.
