Graduate Real Estate Institute Scholarships and Financial Aid

The Fordham Real Estate Institute offers several scholarship opportunities to incoming students. This is financial aid that you don't have to pay back. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six graduate credits in the fall and spring semester and maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average. Additional payment plans and loan programs are available through Fordham’s Graduate Financial Aid program.


  • Notifications for fall semester scholarships begin going out via email to newly admitted graduate students in mid-April of the entering year.
  • Notifications for spring semester scholarships begin going out via email to newly admitted graduate students in mid-November.

Dean's Awards up to $10,000
The School of Professional and Continuing Studies offers an array of Dean's Awards that are applied in your first year of study in equal halves in the fall term and in the spring term. Applicants who would like to be considered for one of the following Dean's Awards should email Debbie Lesperance, Director of PCS Admissions, at [email protected]. No additional application required.  

  • Dean's Scholar Award: $10,000
    The Dean's Scholar award is the most competitive award offered through the Real Estate Institute. The scholarship committee identifies those who present the strongest applications, with an emphasis placed on prior academic performance, work experience and the insight provided in a required admissions essay.
  • Dean’s Merit Award: $4,000-6,000
  • Dean's Advanced Graduate Certificate Award: $2,700

Building Futures Scholarships $5,000-$15,000
The Fordham REI Executive Advisory Council has created a Building Futures Scholarship Fund designed to offer financially challenged residents in the NYC five boroughs and surrounding counties access to graduate programs and meaningful careers in real estate and construction.

An application is required. Please email [email protected] for the Building Futures Scholarship application.

Requirements for applicants:

  • Must be a resident of one of the NYC five boroughs or surrounding counties.
  • Must be admitted to a PCS REI graduate program.
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.
  • Building Futures Scholarship Application must include a personal statement of financial impact.

External Scholarships

We encourage students to seek external scholarships from industry organizations. The following external scholarships have been available to REI graduate students. Please apply directly to the sponsoring organization. 

American Immobiliare offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate real estate students of Italian descent

Appraisal Institute Education
Trust offers a number of scholarships for academic study related to careers in real estate appraisal or related areas

Asset Based Lending scholarship. A scholarship program for students pursuing a degree in real estate.

Association of Women Contractors AWC 
Awards numerous scholarships to females entering construction-related careers through the academic track or through an apprenticeship.

Builders League of South Jersey Scholarships
Will be awarded to students from southern New Jersey, who will be matriculating in an accredited post- secondary school and pursuing a course of study related to real estate and the construction industry.

CREW Network Foundation
Scholarship program that supports future female leaders as they pursue university-level education that will lead to careers in commercial real estate.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation
Awards numerous scholarships annually, you do not have to be an ESA member to apply for a scholarship, and our application process is 100% online. The application deadline for 2018-19 academic year is February 1, 2018.

The Evalee C. Schwarz Charitable Trust for Education
Provides interest-free loans to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and significant financial need.

George M. Brooker Collegiate Scholarship for Minorities
Sponsored by the Institute of Real Estate Management Foundation. Offers scholarships to members of a minority group who have achieved academic excellence in Real Estate and have completed at least two courses in Real Estate

Mary Lou Fiala Fellowship
Sponsored by the International Council of Shopping Centers. Open to students 30 years old or younger who have had at least two years’ experience in the Real Estate industry

Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (MAC CMAA)
Awards a limited number of scholarships to qualified students to help them defray the costs of pursuing a degree in construction management or a related-degree program. Must live in NJ, PA or DE.

Mortgage Bankers Association of New York (MBAofNY) awards a limited number of scholarships to students pursuing a master's or undergraduate degree in real estate in New York City

Pension Real Estate Association (PREA)
Awards scholarships for undergraduate or graduate-level study in Real Estate

WX Scholars Program
Provides scholarships to women in the New York Metropolitan Area who wish to pursue careers in real estate or related fields.
