New Student Orientation

August Orientation: Sunday August 25, 2024 - Tuesday August 27, 2024

Sunday, August 25

7:30 am - 3:30 pm: Resident Student Registration and Move-in (resident students are required to check in)
Location: At your assigned Residence Hall
Orientation Leaders will meet you at your hall and move you in based on the assigned time found in your move-in email from the Office of Residential Life. Questions? Please call or email Residential Life: Phones open 7:30 am - 5:00 pm: (718) 817-3080 | email: [email protected]

8 am - 5 pm: Orientation Information Table
Location:  McShane Campus Center and Constitution Row
Have a question? Feel free to visit our Information Table located outside the McShane Campus Center and one of our Orientation Leaders will be happy to assist and direct you to our various sessions.

9 am - 12 pm: Coffee and Conversation
Location:  McShane Campus Center and Constitution Row
Enjoy light refreshments and conversation with Fordham staff who will drop by from across the University.

9 am - 3 pm: Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Location: Duane Library
Need to speak to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions? Students and families can visit the admissions offices at Duane Library, where members of the staff are available to answer questions.

9 am - 3 pm: Student Services Resource Fair
Location:  McShane Campus Center and Constitution Row
A variety of staff from offices and services at Fordham will be available to answer questions during this time on the lawn outside of the McShane Campus Center.

10 am - 3 pm: Enrollment Group Open House
Location: Thebaud Hall
Have any questions for Student Financial Services? During this time, head over to Thebaud Hall to have members of Fordham's Financial Services answer all of your questions.

12 pm - 3:30 pm: Commuter Student Registration and Commuter Hub (commuters are required to check in)
Location: McShane Campus Center and Constitution Row
Families and students are invited to join Orientation staff, Commuter Assistants, and Commuting Students Association leaders for refreshments, music, and activities. Receive your ID and essential information.

12 pm - 2 pm: Afternoon Social with the Fordham Community
Location: McShane Campus Center and Constitution Row
Take a break and join various staff and faculty at McShane Campus Center for light snacks and refreshments.

1 pm - 2 pm: Athletics Student Athlete Information Session
Location: Keating Hall 3rd Floor Auditorium
Insight into the first-year varsity student-athlete experience for students and families from athletics staff.

1 pm to 2:30 pm: Gabelli School of Business Meet-and-Greet/Hughes Hall Tour
Location: Students and families can meet various Gabelli School of Business staff and faculty and tour Hughes Hall, the beautiful and state-of-the-art home of the Gabelli School of Business.

2 pm-3 pm: Multicultural and First-Generation Reception
Location: McShane Campus Center Great Hall (303)
Join Fordham's Office of Multicultural Affairs, First-Generation Network, Fordham College Rose Hill, the Gabelli School of Business, and upper-level students for light refreshments and music. Learn about cultural, LGBTQ, and first-generation college student resources while connecting with other community members.

3 pm - 4 pm: Fordham Families 101
Location: Rose Hill Gymnasium
Join Christopher Rodgers, Dean of Students/Assistant Vice President, Robert Fitzer, Associate Vice President for Public Safety, and Thomas Frawley, Fire Life Safety Officer for Public Safety, for advice, questions, and answers on safety and services related to a successful transition.

4 pm - 5 pm: President’s Address
Location: Rose Hill Gymnasium
A warm welcome for new students and families from our 33rd President, Tania Tetlow.

5 pm - 6 pm: New Student Welcome Mass
Location: University Church Lawn
Families are welcomed into the Fordham community with a liturgy celebrated by Campus Ministry and members of the Jesuit community.

6:15 pm - 6:30 pm: Farewell to Families
Location: University Church Lawn after the New Student Welcome Mass
According to tradition, generations of new Fordham students wish families farewell for now and gather after the

Mass on Edwards Parade for the first required meetings with orientation leaders and assigned small groups.
