International Studies Learning Objectives

Explore our learning objectives:

1. Students will demonstrate knowledge of other countries and their relationship to each other in a contemporary global context.

2. Students will cultivate an appreciation and understanding of other cultures beyond their own; explore their own identities as global citizens; and develop the skills to engage with people from around the world.

3. Students will acquire advanced language skills in one foreign language and/or intermediate skills in two foreign languages, demonstrating an ability to read, write, and engage in conversation.

4. Students will be able to understand, analyze, and engage with complex contemporary international issues. They will also be able to articulate how different academic disciplines understand, theorize, and empirically analyze these issues.

5. Students will be able to generate their own research questions and arguments, analyze and synthesize scholarly research, gather and analyze data, and manage the completion of a large project.
