This October, we invite you to join us for a series of four events hosted every week dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity awareness. These events, tailored for the Fordham community, aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to navigate the digital landscape safely.

"Ways to Stay Safe" Info Booth

Cybersecurity How to Stay Safe Tips

The Cybersecurity Center will set up an informational booth to commence our event series. Here, Fordham community members can gain insights into best practices for safeguarding their personal data.

Round Table I: "Exploring the Realm of Cybersecurity"
Open to all members of the Fordham community, this round table will delve into current cybersecurity trends and ethical hacking and offer a career path discussion for those intrigued by the field but uncertain about starting points.

Round Table II: "Enhancing Your Cybersecurity Skills"
Specifically designed for Computer Science students (both undergraduate and graduate), this event caters to those with foundational to advanced knowledge in cybersecurity, aiming to sharpen and amplify their expertise.

Date: Thursday, October 12th
Location: Lincoln Center Campus, Lowenstein Building, 6th Floor, Room 616
Time: 1 - 3 p.m.

"Discover, Network, & Learn about the Cyber World"
We aim to foster a robust cybersecurity consciousness within the Fordham community and beyond. This event comprises three segments:

  • A workshop on ethical hacking and its ethical ramifications.
  • A lecture by a guest speaker detailing their role, responsibilities, and pathways into the cybersecurity sector.
  • A networking session allowing attendees to connect with the Fordham Cybersecurity community.

This event will feature special guests: high school students from the NYC tri-state area passionate about delving into cybersecurity and envisioning a career in the sector.

Past Events

Inaugural NSA Cyber Exercise for the National Centers of Academic Excellence 2022
Seven M.S. in Cybersecurity students competed virtually in the National Security Agency (NSA) hosted, inaugural 2022 NSA Cyber Exercise for the National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE-NCX), April 11th-13th. The team completed objectives designed to develop and test cybersecurity skills, teamwork, planning, communication, and decision-making. The Fordham team included students: Samin Yasar, Angelina Zaccaria, Jose Bataller, Ghaith Christian Annabi, Jakub Czaplicki, Ray Tischio, and Sean Page.

CyberSEED 2022
Two M.S. in Cybersecurity students competed virtually in the CyberSEED 2022 competition, on March 26th. The competition team completed numerous challenges which spanned a range of topics: reverse engineering, web application security, network traffic analysis, cryptography, etc. The competition was hosted by the University of Connecticut (UCONN), in partnership with Synchrony. The Fordham team included students: Ghaith Christian Annabi and Sean Page. More information about this competition can be accessed here.

Hack The Port 22 - Maritime And Control Systems Cybersecurity Con
Four M.S. in Cybersecurity students competed virtually in the Hack the Port 2022 competition, March 21st-25th. The competition team completed red team challenges in a maritime port setting, while rivaling blue team competitors from other universities. The competition was hosted by the Maryland Innovation and Security Institute (MISI), in partnership with US Cyber Command. The Fordham Red Cyber team included students: Ghaith Christian Annabi, Angelina Zaccaria, Jakub Czaplicki, and Katrina Arenas. More information about this competition can be accessed here.

Fordham University Computer Science Society - Intro to Web Dev. Event
Come learn the basics of web design and the structures behind our websites! Attendees will learn the basics then customize the Fordham University CS Society website using the “inspect Element tool”. For more information, please click here.

Hey Hackers! Did you ever think that it would be a good idea to take a seemingly simple thing; coffee makers, and connect them to the internet? No? Good, cause we didn’t either. Come to our “Hacking a Coffee Maker” event where we’ll test the security of “smart” WiFi enabled coffee makers. You’ll get an introduction to embedded systems, and compete with your peers to see who can master the art of exploiting java**

2nd Annual CAE Virtual Career Fair
Friday, October 5, 2018
9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. PT

This job fair will connect students from CAE designated schools with employers looking to fill internships, part-time positions, and full-time positions. Each student will be required to upload a resume before attending the CAE Virtual Career Fair. Students in Cyber Security degrees from schools designated as Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD, CAE-27, & CAE-R) and Cyber Operation (CAE-CO) are invited to register at NO COST.

Noel Kyle is an expert in cybersecurity workforce development who manages national programs such as the Federal Virtual Training Environment (FedVTE), a cybersecurity training system.

Kyle has an M.B.A. from the University of Miami in Florida and an undergraduate degree from old Dominion University in Virginia. She also holds Project Management Professional (PMP) and Six Sigma Green Belt certifications.
