NYSHCR Municipal Finance Fellowship Program Information Session (Friday, February 14th 2025, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST)

When: Friday, February 14th 2025, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST Established in 1990, HCR’s Municipal Finance Fellowship provides a year-long, full-time opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in public finance and investment banking. Starting each July, up to five Fellowships are offered annually to students interested in careers in finance and the public sector, with a focus on fostering diversity in the financial services industry.Program OverviewFellows participate in a one-year rotational program, spending six months with HCR and six months at a partnering investment bank. Current partners include Barclays, Jefferies, Morgan Stanley, Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., and Wells Fargo. Fellows engage in single-family and multi-family bond financing, real estate finance, and mortgage insurance at HCR, and gain exposure to public finance investment banking at partner firms. Reading Partners Information Session (Tuesday, February 18th 2025, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST)

When: Tuesday, February 18th 2025, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST Reading Partners is a nonprofit organization that partners with schools and communities to provide elementary-aged students with the foundational literacy skills they need to read at grade level by the fourth grade. We do this by mobilizing and training community volunteers to provide one-on-one individualized literacy tutoring to our students, using our structured, evidence-based curriculum in our 20+ schools throughout NYC.

This event is open to all industries and it provides the opportunity to meet employers looking for students from a variety of areas. Employers attending are encouraged to post current job/internship openings as well as discuss future opportunities. Attending the fair is beneficial for exploring career paths within different industry sectors, networking, and learning more about recruiting and application timelines. Career Fair Checklist:Before the FairResearch the companies in Handshake in which you are interested so you can tailor your professional pitch to them and ask relevant questions.Visit with a Career Counselor to proofread your resume for grammar, spelling, etc. and print at least 10-15 copies on resume paper.Draft your 30-second pitch and practice it beforehand.Dress appropriately!
